Staccato, Legato and Portato, are all three musical concepts.
Legato is a concept for music that is played coherently and in the same way you can expect a soft and coherent rum.
Staccato, on the other hand, is a more defined way of playing music, the time in between two notes is typically strongly defined, which is also expressed in our rum thus a journey of taste is immensely expressed from the first sip.
Portato is a musical expression where the musician plays an underlying tone during the actual melody. The same performance is uttered in the rum. Expressed in a light smoke note follows a clean development in the glass, nose and on your palette.
The blended base of Dominican rums creates a symphony of a sweet and yet spicy spirit, which forms the foundation of the three varieties of our rum.
Whether it’s finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks, smokey Laphroig 10 Whisky casks or the rather classic French oak, you’ll be met by an inviting and daring rum.

Legato – French Oak (Gold)
By finishing the sweet and spicy rum in a French oak barrel, we aim to round off the notes with an oaky kick and a slight dryness. The Staccato therefore offers the best of both a dry and a sweet rum. It offers a sweet and spicy nose and a subtle dry kick on the palate, though the vanilla and caramel sits with you as the dryness wears off. All you want from a neat rum experience.
Staccato – Pedro Ximenez Sherry (Silver)
As established, the sweet and spicy base of this rum already provides quite a few expressions itself. However, by finishing it in 18-year-old Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks we not only achieve distinct notes of dates, liquorice and vanilla, we also get the most beautiful colour. For balance, this rum is bottled at 44% so that the sweetness doesn’t overwhelm the finishing notes.
Portato – Laphroig 5 års (Bronze)
For some, it’s very difficult to say rum without saying cigar. Nonetheless it’s commonly known that smokey notes and rum pairs really well. Such notes can be achieved by aging the rum in a barrel formerly containing, for instance, Islay Whisky. In this matter not just any whisky – Laphroig 5 Year Old Islay Single Malt. Once again providing the best of both worlds, you’re met by a rather thick and deviously smokey spirit that pairs wonderfully with a cigar.
